THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law, including divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the goal of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
