Local Attorney Ashley Wilburn Leads Mediation Services for Family Disputes

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid litigation and court processes.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the legal realm as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law – divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
