Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a significant role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond her legal practice as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
