THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family issues. She concentrates a large portion of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law – custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
